Eight Mile LLC & Martin Affiliated LLC, the companies that own publishing and copyrights to rapper Eminem’s songs, have filed suit against Apple’s iTunes.
They claim that Universal, the company that distributes Eminem’s albums, was never authorised to distribute his music online.
According to the experts, the suit has merit. There is a growing feeling within the industry that publishers—who actually own the copyright—and not labels should have final say on where and how the music is distributed.
Furthermore these suits may become more common.
Entertainment lawyer Owen Slone told the Detroit News to expect more of these types of suits in the future as it becomes a bigger issue. He also said another factor playing into the dispute is the division of royalties between the label, publisher, and artist.

I finally got around to watching the baseball episode of Mythbusters tonight. They totally shattered the corked bat theory!
In theory, players (including Sammy Sosa) have thought that a corked bat, because it weighs less, will allow them to swing faster and hit the ball further (a sorta, kinda totally illegal manoeuvre).
Well, in practice a corked bat only hits the ball about HALF as far. In their (controlled) tests, the ball, pitched (by machine) at 80 miles per hour left the uncorked bat (swung by machine at 62 mph) at 80mph (speed determined by viewing high speed cameras). The corked bat was then substituted, and the ball left the bat at only about 40 mph!
Two reasons were given for this:
1) Since the bat weighed less, there was less energy to be transferred to the ball
2) the cork absorbed some of the ball’s energy, slowing it down.
I was totally shocked… I was one of the ones that thought the ball would go further with the corked bat.

Angie is pissed that the paps got pics of the party according to Perez Hilton. Apparently Ange wanted the pics of Maddox’s birthday party released on her terms.
The source tells Perez
“Brad and Angelina were going to send out a set of photos and get coverage they wanted and control they wanted. Then, when the Life & Style cover (with the Maddox bday pics) hit newsstands, it sort of took the wind out of that possibility.”
I am sorry, I don’t have a lot of sympathy for Angelina in this regard…

Hannah Montana, the movie. Yay. So totally won’t be going. Miley Cyrus called Ryan Seacrest on KIIS this week and clued him in, as well as promoting her upcoming tour, and pretending (poorly) to be Daniel Radcliffe.
You can hear it for yourself, here

Angelina has said that being with Brad has tamed her. She admits to having lesbian affairs (anyone who’s followed her career knew she was bi, tho…) including a 10 year relationship with a model–Jenny Shimizu.
The part that leaves me shaking my head (after screeching ‘What?!’ and scaring my friends) is
and has also confessed to experimenting with knives during sex.
She recently said
“I’ve never hidden my bisexuality. But since I’ve been with Brad, there’s no longer a place for that or S+M in my life.”
Um… wow

Mandy Moore was mortified when producers told her she was too fat for her role as Sadie, in Licence to Wed.
She says, “I felt mortified. I am who I am, and if I accept it everybody else should too.”
She did comply, with reservations, but hopes that Hollywood will become more accepting of more body types.
“When I started out in the industry I was 14 and a beanpole, but over the last few years I’ve grown. For the most part I feel pretty OK with how I look. I know I’m different from the typical Hollywood ideal of what is beautiful. But quite frankly I don’t think that’s attainable and I’m happy to represent something different. This is just exactly who I am.”
I agree with Mandy. She’s curvy, well-proportioned, and healthy. And she’s beautiful. I’ve had enough scary-skinny actresses!
