Only in Ameri–Oh wait…

Posted by gnn1 on Wednesday, 22 August 2007

I guess not…  A 12 year boy from Manchester England was arrested for throwing

(wait for it)

a cocktail sausage.  No, I’m not kidding.  You just can’t make this kind of thing up!

The boy threw the sausage at a 74 year old man, who reported to police that the boy had thrown a stone.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said that because the boy had been spoken to by police three previous times, he had to be arrested.

A review of the case has been launched after a youth court judge spoke up:

“If he has done what was suggested it is very bad behaviour,” District Judge Tim Devas was reported as saying in the Manchester Evening News. “But is it in the public interest to prosecute a 12-year-old boy who threw a sausage?”

As for the 74 year old…well, I don’t know, but some people have no sense of humour.

AA perfect photo op…from rehab

Posted by gnn1 on Wednesday, 22 August 2007

Seems LiLo isn’t going to let the perfect photo op go.  Apparently pix of her at rehab are okay as long as she sets them up.

Sydney Morning herald is reporting that she invited OK! magazine to shoot her whilst in rehab (oh the joy of that thought…oh sorry, wrong shoot)

SMH decribes one shot:

In one perfectly posed shot, a demure Lohan, her hair pulled tightly back, is reading Alcoholics Anonymous, AA’s 164-page Big Book, which mixes personal stories of redemption with a description of how the program works.

According to OK! editior-in-chief Sarah Ivens, she’s taking it seriously:

“replacing LA and smoking with yoga and reading.”

I’d be taking it seriously too if I was facing three felony cocaine counts.  Let’s see if she sticks by it once the charges are dropped.

Celebrity justice to strike again?

Posted by gnn1 on Wednesday, 22 August 2007

An article in today’s evening edition of the Sydney Morning Herald sent me running to TMZ.com whilst cursing profusely.

Apparently, law enforcement sources have reported that there is a ’strong possibility’ that LiLo will not be facing the three possible felony charges that could be filed.  It’s apparently almost certain that the DA will not file a charge for possession of cocaine from her arrest back in May.

The other two possible felony charges stem from her well publicised arrest 24 July.  They would be felony cocaine possession and bringing cocaine into a correctional facility.

There are still the misdemeanor DUI charges.  But they add up to a minimum of 4 days jail time (and a max of not much more, I’m sure).

TMZ also reports that LiLo’s mouthpiece lawyer has been talking a lot with prosecutors which indicates a possible plea bargain.

All I can say is, I hope that the DA isn’t an elected position in LA, or if it is, voters out there have short memories.
